Submission Guide: Name / Contact Details (email) / Subject or Title / length / Brief Description
Topic 12 -
Topic 1 - Doug Moen / doug@moens.org / 3D Printers / 25 min / survey of 3D printer technology; status of kwartzlab 3D printer project
Topic 2 - Seth Hardy / shardy@asymptotic.ca / How Not To Befriend Your Local Fire Department / 25 min / A quick overview of LPG flame effects and how they work, followed by a demonstration of a brainwave-controlled flame effect in the parking lot. This is a "show off" talk and not a "teach" talk, as the time is nowhere near long enough to give a comprehensive lesson on how to do this; in order to drive this home, I will probably show you pictures of burn victims to discourage you from doing (even more) stupid things.
Topic 3 - Natalie Silvanovich / namely_audacious@hotmail.com / Tamagotchi Talk / 25 mins / How to reverse engineer (IR) protocols using Tamagotchi as an example
Topic 4 - Tony Clifton / / Boiler Construction for Extraction of C2H5OH using Fractionation Columns / 25 min / The building of an efficient boiler for successful extraction of C2H5OH and its associated constituents has been the source of much debate in the community. This talk will be on one attempt to create a system that is cost effective, simple to build and esthetically pleasing.
Topic 5 - Ben Brown / ben@kwartzlab.ca / Screenprinting: A Primer / 25 mins / The basics on screening your own shirts and patches for great justice
Topic 6 - Trevyn Watson / trevyn at thinkhaus.org / Power to the People / 25 mins / How you can use step-down and step-up switching regulators in your projects without knowing "what the frack is that inductory thinger even for".
Topic 7 - Leif Bloomquist / leif at schema factor dot com / RetroComputing / 20 minutes / Retrocomputing isn't just about the nostalgia and the classic games - they are ideal platforms for hardware hacking and experiments too! A brief talk on the scenes around North America and Europe, with a strong focus on Commodores and the latest gadgetry/modifications out there to breathe new life into the old machines.
Topic 8 - :(CANCELED): MaxD / maxime.damecour gmail.com / Plumbingpunk / 25 minutes / Plumbing pipes are excellent. Standard, modular, accessible, affordable and slick.
Topic 9 - Eric Boyd / mrericboyd at yahoo.com / Wearable Electronics / 25 mins / soft circuits, wearable electronics, the North Paw compass anklet, pulse choker (LEDs blink in time with your heart), starboard flexible PCBs.
Topic 10 - (most likely!) Rob Gilson / thatotherdude on the gmail / 3d Printers (part 2?) / 20 mins / How to make excellent robotic things cheaply with 3d printers with excellence.
Topic 11 - Ralph Janke / txwikinger at ubuntu dot com / Ubuntu Hacking / 25 mins / tbd ( maybe howto quickly develop cool apps).
